"Every mountain, every valley, every loch and every river has a story to tell that illuminates the origins of the earth: a true microcosm of macrocosmic events long ago." 1 From the Highlands' wild expanse of heather-covered moorland to the quiet pastures of the Border region, to the jagged sea-cliffs of the harsh northern coast and the roaring seas of the isles, Scotland's landscape is shrouded in magic and legend. The country's harsh rains have made its people perseverant; its arid soil forced them to become resourceful. It is Auld Scotia, and it burns in the hearts of the sons and daughters that have scattered all across the world.
